Hi! I’m Lesley. I’m a Creative Director, Brand Strategist, Designer, Illustrator and founder of This is Lester.
I help brands connect to humans in meaningful and unexpected ways.
In my 20 year career, I have worked as a Set Designer for Beyonce, Gwen Stefanie, on SNL, designed and produced VIP experiences for the NFL Super Bowl Concert Series, The Police’s last tour (ever), Madonna, J-Lo & JayZ, on nationally televised concerts on ABC & NBC, streamed series & virtual events for GQ and Stella Artois, and most humbly my work with mission driven projects from One Earth Global Concert to the United Nations global campaign on sustainability. Additionally, I’m a guest speaker with youth at Universities, the YMCA, Inner City-Arts on the possibilities of their future in the creative arts. I understand connection.
Strategic thinker with a digitally driven mindset, my work has generated millions of impressions, been turned into permanent installations, and has even been auctioned for charity.
Early on teachers always said that my style was totally different to everyone else; in time, I realized this was a good thing. I put my focus into creatively helping brands & artists while truly honoring their brand equity. Being able to artfully and strategically Creative Direct all the pieces so they create an original and beautiful picture while still maintaining the company goals and KPIs (Key Point Indicators) as an artform in and of itself.
Seeing things differently has been an advantage in my career. I have an abstract mind and a meticulous eye; I am a left & right brain thinker able to bring shared ideas to life from inception through launch. My early career and education at Canada’s leading school for Interior Design set me up to understand the psychology of space, color and our emotional connection to art & design.
I made my way to NYC when I was just 23 years old armed with a hockey bag of clothes, a pocket’s worth of cash and a crazy dream that anything was possible. Within six months I was Art Directing shows at Madison Square Garden & Radio City Music Hall. I am passionate about sharing this feeling of possibility with people through experience. Hope & Fun is connection in its truest form.
I launched this is Lester organically with the intention that I would cleverly bring exceptional, artful experiences to people. Together or apart, my mission is unwavering.
This is Lester is broadening its experience & outreach by consulting with brands in-house. As Founder and Lead Conceptualist, I have endless ideas and an innate ability to connect with new teams. I can quickly identify the layers of your project that will create a long-lasting, tactile experience for your audience. My hand-drawn, whimsical, and often kooky illustrations have inspired an award-nominated line of stationery and decor that celebrate everything from feminism to cats.
